I need help...

My precious little Carly has become a cat-napper, what should I do? She used to take nice long naps and will now only sleep 30-45 mins at a time. I know she's tired too, she just wont sleep! She does great at night, she'll usually sleep until 6:30am or later if I get up and dream feed her. If we are out and about she naps well, just not at home. We aren't on a strict schedule nor do I want to be. She does pretty well at feeding every 3-4 hours, we just have napping issues. Please help!!! Any suggestions?

I know this doesn't help, but I'm not sure what to tell you! Haha! Sydney was the same way. We eventually just had to try and keep her awake. We used to put wipes on her legs because they were cold and would wake her up. It was sad, but if I could keep her up for an hour or more she would sleep longer. Eventually she settled into a schedule but it took awhile. I think newborns just do that or something. Some sleep great and others don't!

You are lucky with night time though. My little girl got up every two hours to eat and took forever to get back in bed until she was about 7 months.

If she's napping while you are out and about, is it in a car seat? If so, it may be because she likes being propped up a little bit. My niece did the same thing... their pediatrician told them to roll some blankets up and prop up one end of the mattress (only by a few inches, not so much that she'll slide!) Maybe that will help a little...

Sienna was the same way. Once she started sleeping through the night her naps decreased dramatically but i knew she needed more sleep, so I did as Leslie suggested too. I would feed her and then we would have our awake time. I would keep her up as long as I could and then put her down for her nap when she seemed exhausted. Where does she sleep? Does she like her bed? Do you let her cry it out yet? I loved the books Becoming Babywise and the Happiest Baby on the Block. Both very different point of views but I took what worked for Sienna from both of them. Good luck!
