Enjoying Beni Hana the week before Burke came. I was having a serious craving for their
fried rice and crispy shrimp rolls....yummm!! Cayson thought the cook was really neat and smiled and laughed the whole time.
We are pretty much all settled now, just have painting and decorating to do.
We love the new house and the new area!

Cayson's BIG day, his first day of kindergarten. His teacher is Mrs. Beacher and he is really enjoying himself. The first week was a little rough, he had a few days that he cried and gave me big hugs after school and told me he missed me all day. (he missed daddy too but say's he missed me more!) Our neighbor's have a little girl and they are in class together so they walk to school almost every day together. He is adjusting really well and is doing great!

My shower was a lot of fun and I got to spend it with many of my favorite people. We enjoyed endless soup, salad and breadsticks at The Olive Garden...yummm! Burkie made out very well with lots of nice gifts.

Thad and I had to be at the hospital at 7:30am on August 27th for my induction. I chose to have my epidural before the induction was started so finally around 12:30 I got my epidural. The induction was started around 2pm and around 7pm I was at a 4. They broke my water which caused Burke's heartrate to drop with each contraction so I had an amniotransfusion. I went from a 4 to a 6 in two hours then stalled out. My epidural did not work fully on the left side so I felt almost everything but luckily worked pretty well on the right side. During one check we found out that Burke had pushed his hand up past his head and the Dr could touch his fingers. He was also face up which is apparantly the wrong direction. We made it through the night with a little bit of sleep and finally around 4am things started picking up quickly. Around 5:45am my Dr came in and decided that we would need to use the vacuum to help with the delivery because of pressure being placed on his hand and since he was face up. After about an hour of pushing, Burke Lee Merrill was born at 6:46am. He was 7 lbs 2.2 oz and 20 1/4 inches long.

Getting some much needed rest!

Burke has been a very good baby so far. He is pretty quiet and doing really well at night. Carly is doing good with him, better than I thought. Cayson loves having a little brother and constantly wants to look at him and touch him. Having Burke has been great and we are so lucky to have him in our family!!!

I love your long post... I love all the pics of Burke especially--the scowling one is SO funny. Congrats again! I'm sad that we won't be able to come down there to AZ anytime soon to see him (and your new house! I'm sad I never did see the previous house!)...he's going to be so big by the time I finally get to see him in person! : ( Keep posting pics!
